HOME PAGE INTRODUCTION This is my home page where I will give you an overview of me and my work as an artist and a healer. This photo of me was made by my friend, Margie Weaver from Minneapolis, during a photography workshop on the Big Island, Hawaii in March 2009. We were visiting Randy Takaki’s sculpture studio in Volcano when I connected emotionally with his guardian images and ended up purchasing the small one I’m holding here. (See Photography page, Sculptures gallery, to see more Guardian images.) This image of the “bowing monk” seems to be a universal, sort of archetypal image implying honor, respect, humbleness, gratitude, honoring the sacred within and without. When I am in a shamanic healing circle and we are sending healing energy to someone who has asked for help, I bow to their spirit to honor their path in this lifetime. For me, this gesture is a way of letting go of my control of the outcome and allowing their sacred life-path to unfold. After making over 2,000 of these images, I’m sure Randy would have many more words to describe them. Overview of me and my art and healing work: Photography, for me, reflects a sense of wholeness in nature that I seek within. It is my hope that the pictures I make provide a fertile base for people to see their own path to a place that holds the sacred within themselves. As I grow and change I see these photos in different ways, with different eyes. These photos for me are like the edge of the canyon rim or like a clif-overhang, they hold the space that defines the aspect of the sacred that I’m seeing when I make the picture. In the same way, my shamanic and Reiki practices help me and those I work with find a place of wholeness and happiness and a connection with our sense of the sacred. When I work with a person in a shamanic healing session, I seek to help her or him find a path to health. Like my Yoga practice, we begin where we’re at and move from there. We find a focus, an issue or a question and then we ask Spirit for help. Often I do not recognize the images that come because they are for the person I’m working with. When I share them I see they have resonance for the person I’m with. And then I hear some amazing stories. Reiki feeds me spiritually. It is one of my forms of prayer. It supports everything I do, and it is a way to connect with a person’s healing path in a respectful way without imposing specific outcomes on the person. For someone in a life transition, I can send Reiki to ensure a safe outcome. For someone making a journey in ordinary reality, I can send Reiki for a safe trip. For someone who has twisted an ankle I can send Reiki for physical healing and inner peace…all for the highest good. I also provide hands-on Reiki sessions and teach others to work with these healing energies of the Universe. Reiki and shamanic healing work well together. Often in a Reiki session I get images of what the person has experienced that has led to the particular discomfort they are experiencing. When I share these images I learn of past wounds and can support a healing path for them. In short, I help people discover parts of themselves that have been lost or buried and help them to integrate these parts into their lives. It is my experience that from this place of health and wholeness people are able to make decisions that support their lives and that ultimately help to make the world a better place. |
